Dexter Nova Alliance (DNA) has been awarded the contract for the Design Build (DB) and Operations, Maintenance & Rehabilitation (OM&R) associated with the twinning of Highway 104 across Eastern Nova Scotia from New Glasgow to Antigonish. DNA Operations will be responsible for the OM&R of approximately 64 kms of Highway 104 from New Glasgow to Antigonish until the year 2043.

Job Summary

DNA is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Project team in the role of Project Coordinator. Reporting to the Asset Manager the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist the Asset Manager in collecting and maintaining accurate Project records.
  • Help meet reporting deadlines for Project deliverables.
  • Gather a comprehensive understanding of the Project Agreement requirements and timelines associated with meeting various outcome targets.
  • Maintain an accurate database of current asset inventories.
  • Assist with inspections and condition assessments of highway infrastructure.
  • Ensure deficiencies identified on site are accurately reported in DNA’s Maintenance Activity Database.
  • Identification and correction of internal NCR’s and deficiencies.
  • Support the Operations Team in developing, collecting, and compiling OM&R documentation and deliverables.
  • Assist in the documentation of internal operational and maintenance processes to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide daily reports of key activities associated with regular maintenance repairs and highway rehabilitation projects.
  • Assist the Asset Manager in holding subcontractors to the highest standards of Quality, Safety, and Environment.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of annual maintenance & rehabilitation programs.
  • Review and summarize condition reports and inspections.
  • Collecting and confirming measurements of highway infrastructure defects.
  • Marking field locations of maintenance and rehabilitation work. Validating project scope with field review.
  • Monitoring project site activities and providing daily progress reports.
  • Monitor the safety of all site workers and immediately report concerns.
  • Actively participate and contribute to a progressive safety culture that encourages timely reporting and conversation related to potential hazards and near misses.
  • Contribute to the process of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of Environmental, Quality, Safety, and Communication Plans.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience

University degree in Engineering or other Construction Management program is considered an asset

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs especially Excel and Word
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong organization, planning and documentation skills and process orientated
  • Respectful to others at all times

Work Environment

The position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, driving and/or walking. From time to time, the employee may be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) for short periods as well as be exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. The employee may be working in Temporary Work zones, adjacent to highway traffic.
