The Municipal Group of Companies is looking for an additional person to join our team as the Golf Equipment Technician in Chester, NS.

Job Summary:

A golf course equipment technician is responsible for the operation and preventive care of the golf course maintenance equipment. This position reports to the golf course Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendent.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects or failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including but not limited to, diesel, gas, and electric powered golf course equipment
  • Instruct and/or train turf management staff regarding preventive maintenance, equipment usage, proper cleaning, and safe operations of equipment
  • Maintain a preventive maintenance program on all equipment
  • Purchase and keep inventory of parts and replacement supplies
  • Examine and service daily the equipment for performance enhancement
  • Oversee and maintain the equipment area for cleanliness and safety
  • Regulate use of equipment in absence of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
  • Perform other duties as assigned and directed by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • Diploma or certificate as a turf mechanic technician or equivalent trade as a mechanic
  • Knowledge of equipment repairing and troubleshooting
  • Experience and knowledge of golf course operations
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS)
  • Ability to work in a variety or weather conditions
  • Ability to provide instructions for staff
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work in a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to haul utility trailers
  • Willingness to plow snow
