EFR, part of the Municipal Group of Companies, has been providing superior waste collection and recycling services to the Annapolis Valley for almost 20 years. We are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a full-time Route Supervisor based out of our Middleton office.
Job Summary:
The Route Supervisor manages all drivers and helpers. They provide leadership and act as a liaison between customers, operations, and route drivers. This position requires flexible working hours including early morning hours and/or weekends when required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establishes and communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance appraisals
- Monitors operations and staff; recommends, when necessary, changes in methods, procedures structure, and additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources
- Conducts driver meetings, keeps staff informed of current problems, changes, and new developments by conducting periodic meetings
- Monitors and ensures that employees are performing their functions safely and productively
- Monitors work productivity, reports on trends, and recommends and implements changes to continually improve work productivity
- Performing periodic “ride along” ensuring that employees perform their functions in a safe and productive manner
- Participates in the maintenance of driver training profiles, logbook and vehicle condition reports for all drivers and equipment
- Secure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures ensuring the use of appropriate tools and equipment for the task
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager– including but not limited to Route Driver/Helper when required.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience:
- Three or more years of Transportation/Logistics experience required, demonstrating the ability to plan and supervise the work of others
- Residential/Commercial Vehicle Driving experience; Rear-Load, Side Load, Split Body an asset, but not necessary
- Class 3 driver’s license is an asset and should be obtained.
- Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicles
- Demonstrates knowledge of routing and re-routing
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A working knowledge of MS Office software, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Highly driven with a strong commitment to quality
- CPR and First Aid Training is an asset
